The sights and sounds of Christmas continually surround us, but this season we are going to the heart of Christmas as we celebrate and focus on the reason for this season…and that is Christ Jesus. God’s love came down at Christmas as that babe born in a manger long, long ago. It is because Jesus that we are saved – through His birth, life, and death. There is much to celebrate and to be thankful. Let’s get to the heart of Christmas.
December 3: Hope is at the Heart of Christmas ~ Matthew 1:18-23
In Isaiah 9, the prophet wrote about how the people were living in darkness. In the midst of brokenness and despair, the people were looking for hope. They were waiting for the Messiah to come and save them. Then, in the fullness of time, an angel appeared to Joseph. Hope has come. The birth of Jesus is the hope that the people were looking for. Hope and promise that God is about making all things new. The people were walking in darkness, but upon them the light came. The light ushered out the darkness. Where there is light, darkness cannot prevail. Draw near to the heart of God. Draw near to the manger. Have hope in your heart. What must you get rid of in order to seek the light of Christ and have hope.
